Why 45 Days?

Once you feel ready, ask your Higher Self to give you a signal for “yes.” Wait patiently and notice what appears. It might be:

  • A physical sensation in your body, such as tingling, warmth, or expansion in your chest
  • A sound you hear internally, like a bell or a tone
  • A visual image you see behind your closed eyes, such as a color or symbol
  • The spoken word “yes” in your mind
  • Even something unusual like an itchy ear or the scent of roses

Whatever comes through is perfect. There is no wrong signal. What matters is that it’s your signal—unique to you and your Higher Self.

Next, ask for your signal for “no.” Wait and notice what presents itself. This signal will be different from your “yes”—perhaps a different sensation, location in your body, or type of stimulus.

Finally, ask for your signal for “neutral.” This indicates that the question doesn’t have a clear direction in your highest and best good, or that more information is needed.

Write all three signals down in your journal immediately. When you think about them later with your rational mind, your written notes will prevent you from forgetting or doubting what you received.

What If You Don’t Receive a Signal?

If you’re highly mental or the signals don’t come spontaneously, you can teach your Higher Self a signal instead. One effective method is to focus all your attention on your right side—right hand, arm, torso, and leg—until it feels more energized than your left side. Tell your Higher Self, “This is my signal for yes.”

Repeat this process with your left side for “no” and your central column for “neutral.” This method works just as effectively as receiving spontaneous signals.

1. Mark Your Calendar

Write down your start and end dates. Commit fully to these 45 days without skipping.

2. Yes, No, or Neutral Questions Only

Frame every question to receive one of these three answers. No open-ended questions allowed. Instead of asking “What should I do about this situation?” ask “Higher Self, is it in my highest and best good to take this specific action?”

3. Ask Only Unimportant Questions

This is crucial. Practice with questions you genuinely don’t care about. “Higher Self, is it in my highest and best good to have tea right now?” or “Higher Self, is it in my highest and best good to wear the blue shirt today?”

Why unimportant questions? Because when you ask about something you deeply care about, your ego gets involved. Your desires, fears, and expectations cloud the signal. Practicing with neutral topics keeps the channel clear and your ego out of the way.

4. Follow Through Every Time

This is non-negotiable. If your Higher Self says no to dessert, don’t eat it. If it says yes to taking a walk, take the walk. No exceptions during these 45 days.

Following through builds trust between you and your Higher Self. It proves you’re serious about honoring this guidance, which strengthens and clarifies the communication channel.

5. Save Important Questions for Later

Unless absolutely necessary, postpone major life decisions until after your practice period. If you must ask an important question, recognize it as a rare exception. The more you can stick to unimportant questions, the faster and clearer your connection will develop.

6. Ask Only Twice

If you don’t receive a clear signal after asking twice, abandon the question. Do not ask the same question three times. When you ask multiple times, you’ve made the question too important, which muddies the connection.

7. No Divination Tools

Put away your pendulum, muscle testing, oracle cards, or any other tools for these 45 days. This practice is about direct connection—nothing between you and your Higher Self.

The Proper Format for Questions

Always address your Higher Self by name and use this specific format: “Higher Self, is it in my highest and best good to [fill in the blank]?”

This phrasing ensures several things. First, it confirms you’re communicating with your Higher Self specifically, not another energy or aspect of your consciousness. Second, it acknowledges that your Higher Self sees the bigger picture and knows factors you don’t consciously understand.

Your Higher Self isn’t a fortune teller and cannot predict what other people will do. It advises you based on all relevant factors—including information you didn’t know you needed. This is why your Higher Self can give counterintuitive advice that turns out to be exactly right.

Ask the last question, not the second-to-last question. Instead of asking “Will it rain today?” which is asking for information so you can make a decision, ask “Higher Self, is it in my highest and best good to carry an umbrella today?” Go straight to the decision itself.

Daily Practice: Aim for 30-40 Questions

The more you practice, the stronger your connection becomes. Try to ask 30-40 questions throughout your day. This might seem like a lot, but once you get into the rhythm, you’ll find opportunities everywhere.

“Higher Self, is it in my highest and best good to check my email now?” “Higher Self, is it in my highest and best good to call this person back today?” “Higher Self, is it in my highest and best good to take this route to work?”

These small, constant check-ins create a continuous dialogue with your Higher Self, transforming it from an occasional resource into a constant companion.

What to Expect During Your Practice

The Learning Curve

The first week or two might feel awkward. You might question whether you’re making it all up or if the signals are real. This is completely normal. Your rational mind wants proof, but intuitive communication doesn’t work that way.

Trust the process. Keep asking questions, keep following through, and keep writing down your experiences. Over time, you’ll notice patterns. You’ll see that when you followed your Higher Self’s guidance, things worked out in unexpected ways. When you ignored it, you usually regretted it.

Maybe your Higher Self tells you to take a different route, and you later learn there was a major accident on your usual path. Perhaps it guides you to call someone, and they tell you they were just thinking about you and needed help. These validations are gifts that cement your trust.

Higher Self Versus Lower Self

Understanding the difference between your Higher Self and lower self is essential.

Your lower self—which includes your intuition, gut feelings, and instincts—is reactive. It responds to immediate circumstances based on past experiences and survival mechanisms. If you’re driving and suddenly feel you should slow down, that’s your lower self keeping you safe in the moment.

Your Higher Self is proactive. It sees further ahead and guides you around problems before you encounter them. Your Higher Self might tell you to pull into a rest stop, so you never even meet the reckless driver your lower self would have helped you avoid.

In the first scenario, you engaged with a problem and solved it. In the second, you never encountered the problem at all. This is the difference between reactive and proactive guidance.

After the 45 Days

Once you complete your 45-day practice, you’ll have a tool that stays with you for life. You can continue asking your Higher Self about every decision, or you can check in for major choices and trust your intuition for smaller ones.

Many people find that after establishing this clear connection, their Higher Self begins offering unsolicited guidance. You might suddenly know you need to leave a situation, call someone, or change direction—without having asked. This is your Higher Self becoming an active asset in your life, bringing you information you didn’t know you needed.

You’ll still be able to ignore your Higher Self’s guidance if you choose. But you’ll probably regret it. Most people discover that following their Higher Self consistently leads to a life of greater ease, synchronicity, and alignment.

Can I ask about other people?

You can ask if it’s in your highest and best good to interact with someone in a specific way, but your Higher Self cannot tell you what another person will do. Free will exists for everyone.

What if my Higher Self says something that makes no sense?

Follow the guidance anyway, especially during your practice period. The whole point is building trust. Often, the guidance that makes the least sense in the moment proves to be the most valuable.

Can I use this for work decisions?
